Job Description
Our client is a global company selling imported industrial products and wholesale construction materials.
Main Responsibilities:
- Developing potential suppliers for standard products to be offered to stores and handling helpdesk inquiries from the stock purchasing team regarding quality, packaging, MOQ, and special branch price requests.
- Identifying and recommending suppliers to product managers and other internal customers after reviewing quotations and conducting on-site factory visits.
- Communicating with U.S. product development groups and other internal customers through early morning conference calls and emails.
- Following up on project progress with product managers, potential suppliers, and sourcing teams to ensure smooth communication among all project stakeholders.
- Continuously sending new potential suppliers’ pricing and introductions for discussion with SDM on current product line strategies, particularly for single-source categories.
- Working with the marketing team on internal product sourcing or market material preparation for EB products, including flyers, videos, and employee show-free items.
- Assisting the sourcing project lead in selecting the most qualified suppliers for Fastenal based on price, quality, and service metrics.
- Keeping the SI team updated on packaging changes for the FASTCO database.
- Coordinating with the QC team on quality complaints from hubs and standard part customers.
- Collaborating with buyers to address MOQ issues from suppliers and adjusting MOQ or MOV to meet demand, or switching to consolidated pricing with suppliers to improve shipping efficiency.
- Working with the China sales team on their product requests and questions.
- Expediting all supplier repeat orders for production, testing, ASN pushing, booking, and delivery via email and phone.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Knowledge and experience in industrial products and fasteners is a plus.
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced team environment.
- Analytical, driven, open-minded, goal-oriented, and customer service-focused.
- Business development experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently.
- Working knowledge of Excel and related Microsoft Office software.
- Practising integrity and professionalism in all aspects of business.
- Basic knowledge of print study is preferred but not required.
- Travel is required for this position, ranging from 10% to 25% of work time.
- Ability to take initiative and go the extra mile in helping projects and supporting the team.
