The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of inventory management within the organization. This role involves supervising a team of inventory associates, ensuring accurate tracking and storage of products, and maintaining efficient inventory control systems. The Inventory Supervisor will collaborate with other departments to optimize inventory flow, reduce stock discrepancies, and ensure that inventory levels meet company demands without overstocking or stockouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, training, and managing a team of inventory associates, ensuring adherence to best practices in inventory control and safety standards.
- Overseeing the accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of inventory levels, both physically and in the system. Performing regular cycle counts, audits, and stock reconciliations.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate movement of stock between departments and customers. Investigating and resolving discrepancies in inventory levels.
- Identifying and implementing strategies to streamline inventory processes, reduce errors, and improve efficiency in stock management.
- Ensuring accurate data entry in the inventory management system (e.g., ERP software). Monitoring and updating stock levels, SKU data, and product information as necessary.
- Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports. Analyzing inventory trends and providing insights and recommendations to improve inventory turnover and reduce wastage or obsolete stock.
- Collaborating with Purchasing, Sales, and Warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Ensuring inventory procedures comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Promoting a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- Providing ongoing training to inventory staff on inventory control systems, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Working closely with Customer Service and Sales teams to address inventory-related issues that impact customer orders, ensuring timely order fulfilment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management or a related field, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and systems (ERP software, Excel, etc.).
- Familiarity with barcoding, RFID, and other inventory-tracking technologies.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
