Job Description

Our client is an international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities that create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries.

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing business knowledge including understanding the British Council’s strategic direction and ensuring this is reflected as appropriate in the Category Strategies so that supplier services are aligned to and support delivery.
    • Understanding the needs of the country and ensuring procurement activities address this, partnering where possible with other regions, and assisting in peer review of other clusters within the region.
    • Developing, monitoring, and reviewing procurement key performance indicators and service performance indicators, ensuring that corporate procurement policy is implemented in the country.
    • Through robust category management, assess and minimize supply risks, and establish and implement mitigation plans. 
  • Being a source of knowledge and providing advice to colleagues in the general area of contracting with suppliers of goods and services, procurement tools, and techniques, especially in the public sector. 
  • Using central spend analysis data and local knowledge, manage and forecast spend to deliver tangible financial savings and efficiencies through value-add procurement activities. 
  • Supporting the implementation and use of e-procurement technology to increase operational efficiency, delivering the implementation of agreed payment method changes.
  • Working with senior procurement manager and global category lead to advise on which spend categories to tender and perform market analysis ensuring alignment to Category Plans where they exist or are being established.
  • Leading sourcing initiatives by following best practices for specific categories (internal analysis, external analysis, tender, negotiation, contracting, implementation). 
  • Supporting the global or regional procurement teams in engaging with local stakeholders for regional sourcing projects.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience, preferably in Senior Procurement.
  • Experience with event planning is an advantage.
  • An excellent ability to perform in a cross-cultural, cross-functional team and interdependent environment.
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Relevant experience in Procurement.
  • Candidates with hands-on knowledge of Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and digital content development will be highly preferred.
  • Flexible, able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
