Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineering Manager will be leading and driving initiatives in process excellence, lean implementation, line balancing, and change management to optimize manufacturing operations. This role involves collaborating across departments to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives, ultimately contributing to operational excellence and strategic business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Excellence: Identifying opportunities for process improvements across all production lines and applying best practices in industrial engineering to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Lean Implementation: Championing Lean Manufacturing initiatives, implementing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to reduce waste, improve workflows, and streamline production.
- Line Balancing: Analyzing and balancing production lines to ensure efficient labour and equipment utilization. Developing solutions to minimize bottlenecks, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall production flow.
- Change Management: Leading change management processes to ensure smooth implementation of new procedures, systems, or technologies. Providing training, communicating benefits, and addressing resistance to facilitate adoption.
- Continuous Improvement: Driving a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing projects that enhance operational performance, focusing on key metrics like efficiency, cost savings, and quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with departments such as Production, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure alignment on improvement initiatives and to integrate process changes seamlessly.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Using data analytics to track the impact of process improvements, providing regular updates to leadership, and suggesting data-driven adjustments where necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years in industrial engineering, process improvement, or a related role, with at least 3 years in a managerial position.
- Lean Expertise: Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, VSM).
- Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills and familiarity with process mapping, line balancing, and production flow optimization.
- Change Management: Experience in managing organizational change, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions for complex operational issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Experience in the automotive sector is a plus.
- Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar software.
