Job Description

Our client is Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) with parts procurement and logistics functions for a wide range of electronics fields.

Currently, they are looking for a Tooling Design Engineer to be a part of their team, the details are below.

Position Summary

The Tooling Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing tooling solutions for new product introductions. This role requires a strong background in the electronics industry, proficiency in CAD software, and a deep understanding of electronic manufacturing processes.  

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing tooling solutions, including jigs and fixtures, for new product introductions.
  • Utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and GstarCAD to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of tooling designs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling designs meet product requirements and manufacturing standards.
  • Optimizing tooling designs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality improvement.
  • Overseeing the fabrication, testing, and implementation of new tooling in the production environment.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving tooling-related issues during the NPI process.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of tooling designs, modifications, and performance data.
  • Staying updated on industry trends and new technologies in tooling and fixturing for electronics manufacturing.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling processes and methodologies.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations in tooling design and implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tooling design within the electronics industry.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and GstarCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of jig and fixture design principles and applications.
  • In-depth understanding of electronic manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes in an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and Six Sigma methodologies.
