Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality and safety standards, and effective resource utilization. This role involves managing production, maintenance, and supply chain operations for food products and other value-added product plants. Additionally, the Plant Manager serves as the second administrative head of the plant, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvements to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Supervising daily operations of food products plants to maximize efficiency.
- Planning, organizing, and directing manufacturing activities to meet performance targets and exceed customer expectations.
- Ensuring timely production output, high product quality, and on-time shipping.
- Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, capacity, and flexibility while minimizing waste and downtime.
- Developing systems to track and optimize productivity, performance metrics, and asset utilization.
- Overseeing equipment maintenance schedules and ensuring preventive maintenance for uninterrupted operations.
- Identifying and resolving operational challenges through corrective actions and process improvements.
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Leading and mentoring production, maintenance, and administrative teams to foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
- Recruiting, training, developing, and managing plant staff while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Building strong employee relationships, addressing grievances, and administering collective agreements as needed.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensuring plant operations comply with HACCP, GMP, BRC, Organic Certifications, and other regulatory requirements.
- Enforcing strict safety protocols to reduce workplace hazards and ensure employee well-being.
- Staying informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance plant operations.
- Financial & Strategic Planning:
- Working with the CEO and CFO to develop the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and strategic initiatives.
- Overseeing monthly financial reporting with the plant finance controller, analyzing performance and identifying improvement areas.
- Evaluating operational data to identify cost-saving opportunities and waste reduction strategies.
- Supply Chain & Customer Satisfaction:
- Managing the entire supply chain to ensure smooth procurement, production, and distribution.
- Providing timely and sustainable solutions to customer issues, enhancing satisfaction and retention.
- Implementing best practices in supply chain management for cost-effective and efficient operations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Food Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in plant operations, preferably in the food processing or FMCG industry.
- Proven experience managing large-scale production plants and leading cross-functional teams.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Expertise in production planning, supply chain management, and operational efficiency.
- Solid understanding of business management principles, including budgeting, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment, quality norms, and best manufacturing practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.
- Computer literacy, including experience with production management software and ERP systems.
- Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
