Job Summary:

The Key Account Manager (KAM) - Modern Trade is responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with key modern trade customers (supermarkets, hypermarkets, and large retail chains). This role involves driving sales growth, ensuring product availability, optimizing visibility, and executing promotional strategies to achieve revenue and market share targets within the modern trade channel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management:

    • Developing and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with key customers in the modern trade segment.
    • Acting as the primary point of contact for all customer queries, concerns, and requests.
    • Understanding the customer’s needs, business strategies, and challenges to offer customized solutions that maximize sales and profitability.
  • Sales Growth:

    • Achieving sales and revenue targets by driving the business within the assigned modern trade accounts.
    • Identifying opportunities for growth and working with customers to implement effective sales strategies.
    • Ensuring the timely execution of orders and monitoring sales performance regularly to meet KPIs.
  • Market Analysis:

    • Monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for new business or areas for improvement.
    • Gathering and analyzing market intelligence to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Promotions & Merchandising:

    • Planning and executing promotional campaigns and marketing activities in collaboration with customers to boost product visibility and sales.
    • Ensuring optimal shelf space, product placement, and in-store visibility for the brand.
    • Working closely with the merchandising team to implement visual merchandising guidelines.
  • Contract Negotiations:

    • Negotiating contracts, terms, and conditions with key customers to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
    • Preparing and managing annual customer plans, including pricing, promotions, and volume forecasts.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborating with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment, inventory management, and effective promotional execution.
    • Coordinating with logistics and distribution teams to ensure product availability and on-time delivery.
  • Reporting & Analysis:

    • Providing regular reports on account performance, sales forecasts, and promotional activities.
    • Analyzing sales data and identifying trends to improve strategies for sales growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or account management, preferably in the modern trade sector.
  • Strong understanding of the retail landscape, market dynamics, and consumer behaviour in modern trade channels.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and building successful customer relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel (if required).
