Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead and manage the operational strategy and execution across all divisions, focusing on manufacturing excellence, cost efficiency, and technological innovation. The COO will play a critical role in scaling our Mechanical Optical and Electronics Micro Systems (MOEMS) capabilities and driving automation across high-cost regions. This position also oversees the Product Design & Development (D&D) function and chairs the Technology Council (TC).

The role requires a seasoned leader capable of optimizing operations and enhancing the company’s competitive advantage, working towards the Group’s target of achieving at least 8% NPAT, 30% ROCE, and a 25% annual turnover growth.

Key Responsibilities

General Operations

  • Strategic Leadership: Leading and directing the company’s global operations, ensuring alignment with annual business objectives, budget targets, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Manufacturing Excellence: Focusing on expanding the Group’s MOEMS manufacturing capabilities, especially in high-cost regions such as Central Europe, through automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Financial Oversight: Continually assessing operational performance by monitoring key financial and operational ratios, and driving actions to meet or exceed targets.
  • Corporate Culture: Fostering a unified corporate culture across the Group by promoting consistency in systems, policies, equipment, and operational processes.
  • Vendor & Material Management: Implementing advanced material management processes such as VMI, JIT, Kanban, and consignment warehouses to minimize stock levels and improve vendor relationships.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Driving continuous cost-cutting initiatives across all products to meet customer expectations for year-on-year reductions.
  • Zero Defect Quality: Promoting and implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) across all business units, to achieve Zero Defect production and increase yields to 100%.
  • Customer Relations: Maintaining positive customer relations, ensuring the highest levels of satisfaction through proactive problem resolution and long-term planning to improve satisfaction metrics.
  • Technology & Automation: Developing and executing a technology roadmap to introduce new processes, automation technologies, and operational improvements across all sites.
  • Health & Safety: Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations across the Group, embedding a culture of safety within the operational teams.

Key Requirements

  • Education: Advanced degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in operational management across multiple sites, with a strong background in manufacturing, customer service, and financial performance.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expertise in electronic manufacturing, process optimization, and contract law.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and manage complex, international operations.
  • Skills: Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strong negotiation and communication skills.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Financial Goals: Achieve 8% NPAT, 30% ROCE, and a 25% annual turnover growth.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain a high level of quality (95% on-time delivery, zero backlog) and reduce costs year-on-year.
  • Operational Efficiency: Meet inventory targets of no more than 1.8 months and reduce global material costs.
  • Innovation: Lead the development and implementation of new processes, technologies, and automation solutions.
