Job Description

  • Designing, configuring, and managing data centre network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Monitoring network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Implementing security protocols and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Performing regular network maintenance, upgrades, and patches.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on projects, including server, storage, and virtualization teams.
  • Participating in disaster recovery planning and implementation of high-availability solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and system changes.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to junior engineers and IT staff.
  • Developing and designing logical network architectures in areas such as:
    • Switching (STP, VTP, vxLAN, EVPN, vPC)
    • Routing (BGP & OSPF)
    • IPv4 & IPv6
    • Multicast architecture
    • Layer 3 VPN
    • Layer 2 VPN
  • Analyzing traffic behaviours, identify and resolve congestion or traffic issues.
  • Monitoring network performance to assess the need for adjustments and plan for future changes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a data centre or large-scale IT environment.
  • Proficient in network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, or Arista switches and routers).
  • Experience with network security tools (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS) and best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based networking solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, or Wireshark).
  • Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Ansible) for network management.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude towards learning new technologies, and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
