Responsibilities
This is a hands-on position responsible for fulfilling the role of Quality expert in manufacturing.
- Performing professional Quality Engineering assignments of considerable complexity under limited direction supervision i.e. Conducting statistical analysis in the form of capability studies, DOEs, etc. to evaluate processes.
- Designing, installing, and continually evaluating quality assurance and/or control methods and systems.
- Developing standards, procedures, and work instructions to provide quality guidance and to facilitate training activities.
- Performing training in internal auditing, mechanical inspection and statistical techniques.
- Developing sampling plans and statistical methods to be utilized by manufacturing and inspection in assessing the quality levels of products and processes including determination of control points and charting methods.
- Interfacing with engineering and CMM programmers, to design fixtures and processes to ensure the effectiveness of measurement systems.
- Conducting internal and external audits and supplier surveys to verify capability and/or compliance.
- Coordinating and participating in material review activities to determine nonconforming product dispositions and corrective actions.
- Developing, generating, and analysing reports and returned products to identify trends and facilitate corrective action/quality improvements.
- Providing technical guidance to all personnel to assist in the use of statistical process control and problem-solving techniques.
- Planning, conducting, and taking action regarding gauge R&R, product and process capability studies.
- Performing QE liaison activities as required to support internal/external customer service and satisfaction.
- Providing other quality engineering support as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Good skill and knowledge in Quality Control concepts, Problem-solving (8D methodology), Analytical skills and performing a quality improvement plan.
- Good skill and knowledge in Quality Core Tools such as APQP, Control Plan, PFMEA, SPC, and MSA.
- Advanced math skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, in mathematical or diagram form.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques.
- In–depth knowledge and implementation of statistical techniques, with the ability to identify, analyse and define possible solutions for continuous product and process improvement.
