We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead research and development efforts in packaging materials. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the R&D team, developing innovative packaging solutions, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership:

  • Managing and supporting the R&D team to develop packaging materials that meet customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Overseeing laboratory operations across company sites.

• Product Development & Innovation:

  • Developing raw materials to support new products, cost reduction, and sustainable packaging initiatives.
  • Researching and implementing new innovations and technologies in the packaging industry.
  • Creating innovative products, specifications, standard test methods, and quality information.
  • Analyzing market requirements with management to establish yearly product strategy plans.

• Quality & Technical Support:

  • Handling problem analysis, solving, and service for customers and internal teams.
  • Monitoring quality from sample production through to commercial orders.
  • Supporting plant audits from customers and certification bodies (ISO, FSSC, BRC, HACCP).

• Cost Management:

  • Managing material budgets and reducing material usage.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost-effective solutions.

• Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Cooperating with sales, purchasing, and production teams, as well as material suppliers.
  • Building close communication and relationships with customers.
  • Providing technical knowledge and a fast response to customer requests.
  • Working with sales teams on sustainability projects.
  • Collaborating with ASEAN group companies on product development projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Packaging Technology, Material Science, Material Engineering, or Chemical Science.
• 5+ years of experience in an R&D function within the packaging industry (Film, Plastic).
• Experience in flexible packaging or film production processes.
• Strong knowledge of packaging, polymer, and plastic materials, as well as R&D processes.
• Technical competency in problem-solving, project management, and technical support.
• Good command of English for international collaboration.
