Job Description

Our client manufactures high-value engineered sheet metal products for both domestic and international markets. 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and refining welding techniques for sheet metal manufacturing.
  • Standardizing welding procedures for both manual and robotic operations.
  • Collaborating with design engineers to identify manufacturability improvements (DFM).
  • Creating and enforcing SOPs, WIs, and best practices for welding operations.
  • Leading training for technicians and operators on quality and safety standards.
  • Conducting root cause analysis to resolve production issues and improve quality.
  • Optimizing fabrication workflow to reduce cycle times and align with QAD.
  • Collaborating with teams to eliminate workflow bottlenecks.
  • Ensuring welding equipment meets quality benchmarks.
  • Leading continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Managing procurement and commissioning of new equipment to enhance welding capabilities.
  • Assisting in achieving departmental goals and meeting project deadlines.
  • Staying updated on welding industry trends and technologies.
  • Fostering communication for smooth workflow and timely project completion.
  • Collaborating with managers to improve production flow and resolve quality issues.
  • Generating reports and recommendations based on data insights for process improvements.
  • Optimizing workforce, space, workflows, and equipment layout for efficiency.
  • Providing feedback on jigs/fixtures for continuous improvement in welding workholding.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in robotic welding, including programming and optimization.
  • Completing any special projects assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering position, specializing in sheet metal fabrication and welding processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other similar applications.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude for calculating dimensions, angles, and material requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on precision.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding equipment and techniques.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and methods.
