Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Supervisor to oversee the procurement process for the canned food manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, packaging supplies, and equipment while maintaining our high standards of quality and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies to optimize cost savings and maintain product quality.
- Managing relationships with suppliers, and negotiating contracts and terms to ensure the best value for the company.
- Overseeing the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and food industry regulations.
- Collaborating with production, quality control, and inventory management teams to forecast material needs and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implementing and maintaining a supplier performance evaluation system.
- Ensuring all purchased materials meet food safety and quality standards.
- Managing and mentoring a team of purchasing staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance as needed.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation.
- Staying informed about industry trends, new products, and innovations in the canned food sector.
- Participating in budget planning and cost control initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant food safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Working Days: Mon - Fri.
