Job Description
Our client is a multinational flexible packaging manufacturer based in Thailand.
The company is seeking a suitable candidate for the position of Commercial Manager.
Responsibilities:
Costing and Pricing Management:
- Reviewing and using costing and pricing models, working closely with sales, procurement, costing, and finance teams to ensure proper implementation.
- Leading pricing and customer contract management for large strategic customers using tools like PreCalc and PostCalc.
- Providing guidance on pricing for key customers, covering:
- Tenders (new business and customer retention)
- New product quotes
- Cost breakdowns
- Managing price increases and decreases
- Rebate and amortization management
- Premiums, discounts, and payment terms
- Managing pricing performance and tracking progress.
- Overseeing the pricing database and providing reports and feedback on customer and tender negotiations.
Margin Management and Analysis:
- Helping analysts improve profit margins in the country.
- Working with Operations and Continuous Improvement teams to increase profitability for low-margin products and customers.
- Preparing margin reports for Senior Management on a monthly or as-needed basis.
- Ensuring action plans are implemented and followed through.
- Supporting pricing analysts and specialists.
Sales Team and Key Account Support:
- Improving Sales team skills through training on key account management and commercial excellence.
- Assisting in negotiations and helping to develop strong value propositions for customers.
- Analyzing product portfolios, customer mix, cost drivers, and contracts, and recommending ways to improve.
Value Plus:
- Leading the Sales & Marketing teams in understanding customer profitability and Value Plus opportunities.
- Helping Sales & Marketing deliver on Value Plus goals, such as leakage management.
- Ensuring SalesNet activity is at the right level and that reports are clear and accurate.
- Encouraging the team to deliver results and plan their activities.
- Continuously improving reporting systems that support Sales & Marketing activities.
- Analyzing customer and product profitability.
System Improvement and Management:
- Driving the Commercial Excellence agenda across the company.
- Supporting the sales team in improving financial business systems like PostCalc and SalesNet.
- Providing leadership and ensuring sales teams are using commercial processes and reports effectively.
- Ensuring all system users are trained to use the systems correctly.
Cross-Functional Teamwork:
- Coordinating information and action plans across various teams.
- Ensuring the right resources are available to complete tasks on time.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in pricing, business development, or commercial roles, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Experience with costing, pricing models, and managing key customer contracts.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Operations).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of pricing tools (PreCalc, PostCalc) and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SalesNet, PostCalc).
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in margin analysis and report preparation.
Other:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Customer-focused with a strategic approach to account management.
- Leadership capabilities and experience in mentoring teams.
