Job Description
Our client is a leading global manufacturer of automotive parts.
The Commodity Buyer will report directly to the Buyer Manager and regional team and will be responsible for the following key functions:
- Executing the company strategies and initiatives and applying defined supplier panels in alignment with Regional for Rubber Parts, Plastic Parts and Resin.
- Supporting regional, reports regarding negotiations, supplier selection in projects, supplier panel optimization, ratio projects, project development, supplier development, initiated sourcing decisions, etc.
- Supporting planning and forecasting in agreement with Regional/Global.
- Managing RFQs and price estimations in customer or market projects and serial production for his/her commodity within the Hub and prototypes if the prototype supplier will be serial.
- Conducting RFQs also for defined global projects (across Hubs) in alignment with the Regional.
- Initiating and managing re-sourcing, dual sourcing and continuous improvement activities and supports Ratio Project Management, e.g. “BCC” or VA/VE.
- Actively supporting and acting in close collaboration with PMPs by providing “in-time” price- and other project-relevant information, e.g. sourcing status, supplier feedback on timing and specification.
- Negotiating & agreements about purchase price and supplier commercial contracts including sourcing decision preparation.
- Contracting management over supplier/parts lifetime for all contracts is his responsibility.
- Organizing Technical Reviews in close collaboration with ASQ and R&D.
- Initiating target price/cost analysis calculation (pre- and post-SOP).
- Being overall responsible for internal releases and changes of supplied material/parts/tools in projects and serial production.
- Managing escalation issues in alignment with Regional MGM.
- Maintaining commercial material/supplier-relevant data in SAP R3 and eCONN.
- Supporting supplier quality assurance, complaint management and "top focus" supplier meetings in cooperation with ASQ, SQA and SQD.
- Monitoring of tool lifetime and capacity; negotiation and purchasing of follow-up tooling.
- Handling the Interface Management to Local Supply Chain.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering degree.
- At least 3 years of working experience with a full understanding of the Purchasing process from Automotive manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience in purchasing Rubber Parts, Plastic Parts and Resin. The group will give priority.
- Experience in supplier development.
- SAP knowledge.
- Knowledge and understanding of drawings, technical data, etc.
- Ability to prioritize work and comply with strict deadlines.
