Job Description

Our client, a leading automotive parts manufacturer, is seeking a skilled New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial project planning to production and post-launch support. This role requires a proactive individual with strong project management skills and technical expertise in automotive manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing new product introductions and changes from 'cradle to grave,' including pre-award project planning through to handover and post-job support.
  • Understanding and delivering customer requirements for samples and document submissions, ensuring all customer needs are satisfied.
  • Maintaining clear project documentation and reporting to broader global teams.
  • Generating and championing 'open issues' lists.
  • Planning projects to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, cost, and agreed quality standards.
  • Leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of all processes used to manufacture the specific product of the project.
  • Participating in validation activities for specific products in the project.
  • Following company rules and standard documentation.
  • Maintaining 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Participating in and promoting cost reduction, continuous improvement activities, health and safety awareness, and adherence to IATF16949 systems.
  • Complying with applicable SHE legal and other requirements.
  • Stopping the production line if any problems arise that affect quality.
  • Authorizing the shutdown of operations or any activity in the event of an uncontrolled situation that could negatively impact the environment or the safety of employees and the public. Any approvals will be authorized by the Engineering Manager.
  • Ensuring the production of high-quality components to be sent to customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in Tier 1.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (GD&T).
  • Strong knowledge of IATF16949 and proven experience in quality management.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Competency in operating Microsoft Office and other computer programs.
