Job Description
Our client is an automotive parts company.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing part concepts for prototype builds and performance testing for customers and/or production.
- Designing and developing jig-fixtures for the prototype assembly process.
- Designing and developing soft tooling for prototype parts.
- Designing and developing prototype samples for performance testing (DOE parts) and recording data for referencing product design.
- Designing and developing benchmarking products.
- Estimating prototype part costs and providing quotations to customers.
- Communicating with customers regarding prototype concepts, part costs, and timing plans.
- Sourcing and communicating with suppliers regarding sample parts, tooling costs, and timing plans.
- Leading performance lab testing for both in-house and outsourced tests.
- Conducting evaporative cooling performance tests with the Calorie-Meter test machine.
- Writing test reports for requesters.
- Sourcing testing conditions applicable to DOE sample tests.
- Providing change concepts for VE (Value Engineering) and production improvements.
- Studying cost improvement projects (CIP) and providing recommendations to the change management team (CMR).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a new model engineer or project engineer.
- Ability to use drawing programs.
- Understanding of metal component design, plastic part development, check jigs, fixtures, and metal press tooling design.
- Good understanding of change control and change management (PLM).
- Experience with plastic injection moulding, metal press tooling design, and fixture design.
- Understanding of OEM systems and standards.
- Good communication skills in English.
