Job Description

Our client is the leading global supplier of carbon black. Provides innovative sustainable carbon black solutions that enhance the performance of paints and coatings, inks and toners, plastics, adhesives, sealants, textile fibres, mechanical rubber goods, and tyres, energy systems.

Job Purpose

Design and Engineering review, operate and maintain D/M. Plant, Boiler, Turbo-Generator and Air Conditioning system within specified parameters, in the shift to extend uninterrupted utility services for plant operation.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Power, steam and water are very vital requirements for running the plant and producing Carbon Black. The Utility meets these requirements in Quantity as well as Quality. Besides, the Utility generates power from excess steam and exports power to the TNEB grid a sister unit. While producing carbon black, the process generates Off Gas as a by-product. Apart from power and steam, water is another essential utility required in the process for various applications like filtered water, cooling water, RO water, DM water, chilled water, and drinking water etc., Utility meets all requirements of water in the entire plant. The various effluent generated in the plant is treated through STP, BWP, ZLD and Mee and complete water is recycled. Major Challenges: Uninterrupted supply of Water, Steam, Effluent treatment & maximizing wastewater recycling and Minimizing the water consumption in the plant.

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities:
  • Key Result Areas/Accountabilities: Operation Efficient operation of boilers and turbines for maximum steam and power generation effective operation of plant Chemical consumption maintenance job.:
    • Supporting Actions: Controlling the operating parameters of boiler and turbines to maximize steam and power generation. Monitoring gas consumption (NM3/Te) in boiler and steam consumption (Kg/KWh) in turbines on a day-to-day basis and taking corrective actions to reduce losses. Identify and highlight deviations in operating conditions on a day-to-day basis. Coordinating with process, electrical and instrumentation departments for the effective running of the plant – controlling the consumption of chemicals. Supervising the routine maintenance jobs (Utility equipment). Execution of jobs as per schedules in coordination with the process department.
  • Key Result Areas/Accountabilities: Quality control maintaining steam and water quality.
    • Supporting Actions: Controlling the parameters of steam and water implementing corrective and preventive actions for deviation in the parameters.
  • Key Result Areas/Accountabilities: Safety effective implementation of Utility equipment safety system.
    • Supporting Actions: Protecting system checking turbines, boilers and hydro testing of boilers. Zero accident.
  • Key Result Areas/Accountabilities: People development skill evaluation of people with the advice of the Division head. Self-participation in developmental activities.
    • Supporting Actions: Participating in QC and shop floor meetings. Skill improvement through training. Involvement and implementation of WCM. TPM. QC. KSS etc.
FLO Utility:
  • To operate and maintain the D.M. Plant, Boiler, Turbo-Generator and Air conditioning system within specified parameters, in the shift to extend uninterrupted utility services for plant operation.
  • To operate and maintain the Water treatment plant, D.M. Plant, Cooling Tower, Bathwater plant, and MEE plant within specified quality parameters and maintain the Zero liquid discharge to extend uninterrupted utility services for plant operation.
  • To operate and maintain D.M. Plant, Boiler, Turbo-Generator, Air conditioning system and ZLD plant within specified parameters, in the shift to extend uninterrupted utility services for plant operation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering or related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering/utilities/facilities.
  • Knowledge of power plant, boiler, turbo-generator, air conditioning, cooling tower and parameters.
  • Experience in high leadership with team and people management.
  • Excellent knowledge and communicable in English
